A video of Rachel falling in love with Charlie Rose… You will too. June, 2001.
Dr. Remen addresses the shame and embarrassment that still is indeed part of the landscape of illness and dis-ease…, its why insurance companies could try to take advantage of the situation as they try to maltreat benefit claimants by trying to make their claims ‘in-valid’. Bona fide claims for benefits must be promptly paid to beneficiaries and to providers of care ..or may result in ‘irrepairable damage’. Appeals for justice in those situations of bad faith actions of insurance companies is needed indeed!….thanks for the courage to acknowledge the importance of healing, necessary yet not reimbursable, aspect of our profession…! When I talk with ‘communities’ about neurological illnesses, I remind my audience of three things: remove the sigma associated with illness, reduce the forced isolation that results from the stigma, and find, no matter what it takes, the best care to overcome the illness or disease, locally or nationally NOW!, with urgency indeed.
Topics like these tell the truth, spotlighting sliently, the validation of our complexities as human beings as we are indeed ‘more than bodies’…. “my soul doth magnify the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my savior!”….indeed…. Mr. Charlie Rose is such a bright star, I am happy to see him be the channel to bring this work to a general audience…just to be close to you (Dr. Rachel Remen is right, we love him/Charlie Rose after listening to this awesome interview)…is the lyric that silently plays every morning as we watch the CBS morning show with Mr. Rose sitting there between those two lucky ladies, Ms. King and Ms. O’Donnell!.
